Looking For A Good Time In Oklahoma City?

This past weekend I discovered something in Bricktown (Downtown Oklahoma City) that I cannot believe I didn’t think of first. My friend and I were out in Bricktown with our girls, just having finished 50 boneless wings at Hooters on the canal, and we wanted to check out the Myriad Gardens. The problem is that it’s an awfully long walk from Hooters to the Gardens, especially with an overstuffed stomach. So, as we start making our way around, we walked by the Spaghetti Warehouse and then we saw it. The best idea ever was right there outside the restaurant. Downtown Segway rental!!

All you have to do is go through a short (2 minute) training session with the gentleman that mans the rentals and you are on your way. There are a few rules like no alcohol, no grass or gravel, and now driving on the road (crosswalks are okay, obviously). It cost $20 for 30 minutes and, in my opinion, is well worth the money! It took us just a couple minutes to go across downtown to the gardens and check out the arts festival that’s being hosted there, it was a great time. I only wish that the clock was only running while you are actually driving the Segway, because it would have been nice to spend a little more time at the gardens.

As soon as our time was up (the guy is very lenient and nice) and we returned the Segways my friend and I’s immediate reaction was, “why didn’t we think of that?” So, if you are in a different metro you may have just heard you million (more likely couple thousands) dollar idea. If you are in Oklahoma City, or you are planning to visit make sure you go to Brick town and swing by the Spaghetti Factory and grab a Segway ride, this is a fun can’t miss good time in Oklahoma City! If you need an excuse to go downtown don’t forget to check out our Oklahoma City Events Calendar, and don’t miss our Oklahoma City community blog so you can keep up with everything that’s happening.

About Jared Kennedy

Strategic Operations Director- Prudential Alliance Realty I love the Real Estate industry! I am a very competitive person and this business is so competitive on so many levels. I love being given challenges and I never have a dull day in real estate. Attended the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, majored in Business Personnel and Operations Management Attending the Ashford University, major in Journalism and Mass Communication I earned my selling chops doing cold door to door sales selling credit card processing to businesses. Nothing will put a skin on somebody like being a northerner trying to tell somebody from the Deep South how to run their business (in my defense I think it has become clear that a business must accept credit cards to be successful). I spent 3 years traveling the country, and beyond, as a structural steel worker. I still miss the traveling and the job helped me to conquer my fear of heights. I was the operating manager for Park Inc from 2006 to 2007. “Park Inc. made Inc. Magazine’s Inner City 100 list for 2006 & 2007 which highlights the fastest growing inner city businesses in the United States. Park Inc. ranked #87 & #68 respectively with a growth rate of 200% from 2001 to 2005.” Inc. Magazine, June 2006 & June 2007
